Bombay High Court: Raped Teen May Abort 23-Week Foetus
MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on Tuesday allowed a 13-year-old who was allegedly sexually assaulted by her father to medically terminate her 23-week pregnancy.
The direction was passed by a bench of Justice Nitin Jamdar and Justice Nitin
Borkar, who heard the girl’s petition via video-conference. The girl filed the
petition through her mother, a pavement dweller in south Mumbai.
The law says that if the foetus is over 20 weeks old, high court permission is required for medical termination.
