Dirt on my band
Hush! There’s a stain on your band.
Hurry… clean it up.
Your band is dirty.
Get a new one.
You ‘need’ a new one.
Isn’t it contempt?
They will point it out.
Don’t stand out.
Don’t stick out.
But, why?
What about respect?
There is a stain on your band.
What does it say?
My band is muddy
My hands are soiled
Feet blistered
Soul bare Blood raging
A storm inside my mind
I am not sitting on a chair
I am never sitting on a chair
Krishnendu Tublu Mukerjee is a human rights lawyer, currently based out of UK. Krishnendu worked with SLIC in the late 2000s. He wore a stained neck tie to court as an expression of his work as a human rights lawyer. The soiled neck tie stood for his struggle and work which required him to be out on the field where the state of his clothes and the stain on his band didn’t matter. He brought that struggle to court with him.
