[caption id="attachment_12931" align="alignnone" width="125"] Meihboubam Rakesh[/caption] Meihoubam’s journey as a lawyer is rooted in his college days, where he was involved in the consumer rights movement. Representing owners of small scale businesses, affirmed his goal to work in the same court as an advocate in the near future. He brought some of the issues he felt deeply for a college student to his table while working as at SLIC; this included fighting for the rights victims of sexual assault by the Indian Army personnel. Despite the challenging and sensitive nature of the cases, his passion provided the fuel for his persistence. Belonging to a disadvantaged background and influenced by his experiences, Meihoubam’s work has always been aimed towards enabling those from marginalised backgrounds to access the justice system.
